Paul and Louise

The wedding of Paul and Louise at the Hallmark hotel in Hull was a fun affair, and one the weather couldn't spoil.

Despite raining all day, we managed to capture some lovely shots. By we, I mean myself, Julian, Emma and Lydia. We all worked hard on the day, making sure we didn't disturb other guests who were using the hotel that weekend. The image below was set up by all four of us, to help minimise disruption, and somehow we managed to capture the image without people wandering into shot behind the bride, Louise, in what was a busy lobby area. Lydia helped shape the dress on the stairs, while Emma and I positioned the off camera flash setup which included power and position. Not having an umbrella and softbox, we used a reflector to direct light back towards Louise, which worked a treat, and was quick to set up and take down. Julian took a few test shots, chose a suitable composition, and pressed the shutter.

We wanted the flash light to mix with the lights of the lobby area, and for the Hallmark hotel sign behind the reception desk, to be clearly visible in the final shot. We felt that this was important, considering the hotel had played such a large roll in the couple's day.
