'Samphire'

With the new photography gallery and craft shop, 'Saltmarsh and Samphire' opening mid February in the lovely little resort of Wells-Next-The-Sea, I thought it a good idea to share this image of the little sailing boat 'Samphire', moored up along the beach road, during a warm summer's day.

Scarborough lighthouse

Taken just as the sun was setting behind the grand buildings on the distant hilltop, a 110 second exposure helped calm the incoming tide, and really adds to the sense of peace and tranquility.

Shot with my Fuji X-T1 and Fujinon 10-24mm F4 lens. This really is a cracking combination for landscape photography, and has now replaced my Nikon kit for this type of work. It's light, well made and offers exceptional quality. A Lee two stop, hard graduated filter was used to control the bright sky and sunset, positioned approximately at a 70 degree angle, top left to bottom right, with a Lee Big Stopper slotted into place once I was happy with the composition.

Fuji X-T1 with Fujinon 10-24mm F4, ISO 200, 110sec @ F13. Tripod and cable release. Lee 2 stop hard grad ND filter and Lee Big stopper. (And me, nearly falling off the quay, acting as a wind break, camera right.)
